The GotVoice team is pleased to announce that Steven Wu has come on board. In his new position as Vice President of Sales and Business Development, Steven will be responsible for leading sales and partnership efforts with carriers and service providers, and driving the company’s international expansion into global markets.

A former Microsoft executive and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group, Steven has over two decades of strategic, executive, international and operational experience in high technology management, private equity and business management.

We want to congratulate our partner Broadsoft, who had some big news this week. The leading provider of VoIP application software, announced the availability of its Xtended Services Interface (Xsi), new RESTful application programming interfaces (APIs) that will allow Web developers to integrate BroadSoft’s carrier-grade voice applications with unified communications solutions and Web-based business and consumer applications, such as Salesforce.com and Facebook.

New voice mashups are available to BroadSoft’s nearly 300 service providers through the BroadSoft Xtended Marketplace (http://marketplace.broadsoft.com). The Xtended Marketplace features applications for download and purchase, including mashups for voicemail-to-text service GotVoice, Web conferencing service WebEx, customer management solution ACT! by Sage and BlackBerry smartphones. Placing these applications on BroadSoft’s Xtended Marketplace provides immediate revenue opportunities for developers.

You can read the whole release here.

Over the past month, BBGeeks has researched the visual voicemail services, including GotVoice, SpinVox, YouMail, and SimulSays.

A few choice quotes:

This was a landslide. No company, not even SpinVox, came close to GotVoice in transcription accuracy.

Best in Show: GotVoice

It would be a bit unfair to pick four categories and then put each of the four services into one each. While it can give you an idea of what each service does best, it doesn’t let you know which is the best overall. This comes down to a matter of opinion, but I have GotVoice by a hair.

The real reason is that I didn’t even need a BlackBerry interface with them. Their transcriptions were so accurate that I could just read my voicemails and respond accordingly. There was no need to play them back. And if I needed to, I always got that email with the WAV attached, so I could play it on my BlackBerry Media Player.

Thanks for the review, and for noticing how important the visual voicemail space is becoming.

It’s always nice to roll into the office Monday morning and see a positive review. In a thorough post about his Voice-to-Text history, the SciTech Guy includes this paragraph.

I had pretty much lost hope, but Mr.M recently pointed me to GotVoice. This system does exactly what I want. It does have the ability to take over cell phone’s mailboxes and that’s cool and all. What I like is that it allows me to forward the emails I get from my company’s voicemail and have them transcribed to text and sent back to me. There’s about a 2-10 minute delay, but it does work. I’m giddy with the service and thankful to Mr.M. for the referral. Sure, it cost about 10 bucks a month, but I’ll happily pay that.

The SciTech Guy has a number of funny posts, so it’s definitely worth checking out. Thanks for the review, and keep up the good work.

Joe at BBGeeks says, “While oneSearch makes good with its promise that it will learn your voice over time, it seems that GotVoice has that capability right out of the box. They claim a 90 percent accuracy rate, and I can’t disagree with them. My trials of the service have yielded wonderful results. I even had friends call with funny and even ridiculous accents. Still, the GotVoice transcription service got most of the words right.”

Ok, so think about how many times a month you browse the web on your smartphone? Every week, every day? And do you just take a quick glance, or are you using it for a significant period on the bus, at the airport, or somewhere else? How many hours total does it add up to per month?

Well, if you said anything more than 4.6 hours, then you are an above average Smartphone browser and thus, deserve to upgrade your device. According to this story from MarketingVox, based on research from our friends at mMetrics, 4.6 is the magic number in the U.S. (2.5 in Britain.) If that sounds high, it should, because it’s a full 89 percent increase year over year. Consequently, mobile pageviews have increased 127 percent.

Checkout the whole story at MarketingVox.
